Black Tiger likely knows, maybe he’ll show up. It’s too bad everyone left for Facebook because the old forum would have had 10 more guys contributing by now and one of them would have had the actual items. It would be much more commonly known than the version of Altered Beast that requires a 1.0 card, for example, which most people know about but don’t care because that game sucks. If it didn’t work on a Turbo Duo (3.1) we would have heard about it by now.
I don’t have a real copy of Downtown but over the years I’ve known many people who have had it. I don’t think it matters if the game is original or not really either.

Nobody mods the built in System card and the region switches for the HuCARD slot in no way would affect this. If anyone here has an original silver of Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari, an un-modded TurboDuo and some time to test - can you please let me know if you see a 'WARNING' screen when attempting to run this Japanese CD-ROM game on a US system with Super CD-ROM² System Card v3.01 (U) as its bios?Īpologies in advance if this is the wrong forum for these types of discussions/questions.
Perhaps someone with more knowledge (and physical hardware) than I on the subject can help answer the question of whether or not there were any other PCE CD games besides Juuouki (Japan) that required a Japanese bios to run on a TurboDuo or a TGFX16 CD Unit with a US Super CD-ROM² System Card? I don't care if this gets 'fixed' in his TGFX16 core, as it can be remedied using the Japanese bios, but can anyone here help me convince him that he is incorrect in his presumption that 'most Japanese games require Japanese bios' as it relates to the TGFX16 hardware? I still feel that it is a valid bug to report as an issue - yet he does not. I just wanted to help, but the MiSTer TGFX16 core author got all prickly, claiming it was a non-issue and chose to dismiss it as such. While 'River City Ransom (SCD) ' did indeed work on the MiSTer TGFX16-CD core after using an image file of the Super CD-ROM² System Card v3.0 (J) bios as Sorgelig suggested , it was my understanding from what I've gathered about the actual physical hardware that the only Japanese PC-Engine CD-ROM game that required you to own a Japanese system card was 'Juuouki (Japan) ' - which did in fact require the CD-ROM² System Card v1.0 (J) bios on everything I've ever tried it on to prevent the 'scroll-lock after transformation' glitch present on the physical hardware. Not long after, the author 'Sorgelig' closed Issue #101 that I had submitted on github relating to this issue, claiming "most japanese games require japanese bios", followed by a terse retort claiming that "this is not a bug". When I attempted to run it on the MiSTer TGFX16-CD core using an image file of the TurboDuo's Super CD-ROM² System Card v3.01 (US) internal bios, I got a 'WARNING' message similar to what one would see if they attempted to run it using the older CD-ROM² System v2.00 bios on actual hardware.

In keeping with the fact that this 'MiSTer FPGA' project was about hardware accuracy and its faithful replication, I decided to attempt to run a test using an ISO image of River City Ransom (SCD).

Having previously owned a TurboDuo, I was remembering while playing/testing that (unlike the HuCards) the CD-ROM was a copy-protection/region-protection free 'thing'. ** Be sure to have syscard.Recently picked up a DE-10 Nano to try out the new TGFX16 core and was very impressed with the accuracy. ** Be sure to have syscard.pce in root cd ** ** Be sure to have syscard.pce in the same directory which contains ISO **Įasy to load, only put all ISO+WAV in a folder (the same as you wrote in HCD file at section "MP3_path" and "ISO_path") an select one in file manager in order to play.

Savesatate would be sooner full active, now saveste are too big for vmu.Īll files format are explained using the same example called DraculaX, to see how dierent are all formats from the same game.Įasy to load, only put all PCE roms in a folder an select one in file manager in order to play.Įasy to load, only put all ISO in a folder an select one in file manager in order to play. Many option in Gui are disabled or unoperative, as soon as I had more time this would be solved. You can get more speed disabling sound, but you can only do it one time for running emu and after loading any game. Speed is good but not perfect, sometimes the emu could slow down for a while, for this reason I recomend disabling CD audio. Cd-Rom Games are suported as ISO+WAV (HCD, TOC, NEC) Games in PCE, ISO, HCD, TOC, NEC (*read more) are playable
Games in PCE and ISO+WAV format could be played.
